The FOOD CORPORATION OF INDIA founded in 1965 has its headquarters in NEW DELHI. It aims to implement the national food policy’s objectives in its day-to-day work. The FCI is also one of the largest supply chain management companies in Asia.
An industrial trip to FCI was recently organised for the students of class 11 of The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet. The trip was guided by the economics teachers, an instructor and a responsible manager. All our baseless myths were busted when we understood how the FCI works with the aim of eradicating the hunger of every Indian in every corner of the country. With over 12000 branches stretching across India, the Food Corporation of India implements a smart economic strategy. It transfers the surplus food of one state to another state with a deficit. This process not only eradicates hunger but also helps in enhancing inter-state relations by improving the revenue for the state. The FCI has control across territories and its labour intensive method of production creates and sustains employment for thousands of people. The Pradhan Mantri Kalyan Yojana Scheme along with the impeccable accounting, management and technical skills of FCI portray a promising future in the hunger index for every Indian. They not only try to ensure that no Indian goes to sleep without a meal but they also pay their farmers fairly with the minimum support price scheme and all their consignments are well under quality and quantity check.
In a nutshell, the FCI has come a long way since its commencement, and it won’t be long till we reach the
aims it has wanted to accomplish.
