A WELL- SPENT AUTUMN BREAK at Dhun, Jaipur and Ranthambore

HPS, Begumpet in collaboration with World View Institute of Regenerative Education organised an educational sojourn to Dhun, Jaipur and Ranthambore from 2nd October to 8th October, 2024 for grades 6 to 9.
For the team of 40 students and 4 teachers, Dhun was a perfect classroom to observe and learn from- 500 acres of degenerated land with no water,less than 30 trees which is now a sprawling Bio hub with 300,000 trees,8 lakes and 400 million litres of harvested rainwater.
The students went on a scenic hiking trail to Pahadiya and Bushcraft where they learnt to cook without vessels and ignite fire without matchsticks.
The traditional feast at Haveli -Daawat-e Khaas was prepared focusing on taste,presentation,service and time management.
Natural Dyeing workshop was conducted at Nila House where they learnt about the age old practices of Indigo and natural dyeing and how this art is regenerated in modern contexts. The students even interacted with artists and craftsmen behind the globally renowned Jaipur Rugs and understood how livelihoods are developed through regeneration of age-old carpet making arts.
The city scapes of Jaipur guided by the local historians helped the students to explore the historical monuments of City Palace and Jantar Mantar.
They even explored the regenerative nature of water bodies and green cover at Dhun and ideated the ways our future cities and communities can be regenerative in nature.
The students enjoyed an early morning wildlife safari of the core zone of Ranthambore National Park guided by the naturalists.They were engaged in a unique conversation and learnt about how wildlife can be conserved.
The students were taken to Ranthambore Fort guided by the local historians,where they learnt about the many battles and communities it has seen over the centuries.
They also set out on an exclusive guided visit of the renowned furniture making factory at AKFD Studio while returning to Jaipur.
The trip integrated ecological principles and social responsibility into the educational experience of the students through hands-on activities and collaborative learning.
