IAYP Final Adventure Camp
In today’s world, where the youth are often glued to their digital screens, real-life connections can sometimes take a backseat. To help our students disconnect from their devices and reconnect with nature and each other, we organized an adventure camp with the goal of refreshing their spirits and offering a new perspective on life.
On the 3rd of August, 2024, twenty-nine enthusiastic students embarked on a memorable adventure camp. They headed towards the Divya Retreat Resort , 40 kms from Hyderabad, accompanied by their mentors and escort teachers, Mrs. Manisha Sinha and Mr. Eshwar Rao.. Under the guidance of Award Leader Mrs. Latha Soorishetty, they set off on a journey that promised to be both challenging and rewarding. Two hours later, they arrived at their destination, where they were warmly welcomed by Mr. Haricharan Singh from Wildwoods India, along with his assistants, Mr. Vishal and Mr. Anand. The setting at Keesara was nothing short of breathtaking, with lush green hills offering panoramic views that seemed to stretch on forever.
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, the students were divided into groups, each set to embark on a series of activities designed not just for fun, but for growth. Over the course of two days for Bronze Level participants and three days for those at the Silver Level, the students embraced the opportunity to step out of their comfort zones, gaining newfound independence away from the familiar routines of home.
Throughout the camp, students engaged in activities that went beyond the physical. They focused on setting goals, both as teams and individuals, learning to resolve conflicts, and overcoming challenges that tested their resilience. Participants like Sia Mali, Sree Budha, and Arnav Kedia from the Silver Level stood out for their leadership, motivating their peers
and inspiring their groups to push through obstacles.
The adventure didn’t stop there. The students took part in a wide range of thrilling activities, including rock climbing, rappelling, river valley crossing, slacklining, tent pitching, self-cooking, and more. Whether it was the rush of zip-lining across a valley or the quiet satisfaction of pitching a tent, each task tested their strength, flexibility, and determination. They also honed practical skills like basic first aid and learned about team dynamics through various team-building exercises.
One of the highlights was a trek that led the group to a nearby village, where they had the chance to meet and talk with local villagers. This experience opened their eyes to a different way of life, as they learned about the village’s culture, traditions, and beliefs. The sight of the villagers offering prayers at a temple atop the mountain was particularly moving, providing a moment of reflection and connection for the students.
By the end of the camp, everyone—from the youngest student to the most seasoned mentor—felt a profound sense of accomplishment. The challenges they faced, both physical and mental, had not only strengthened their bodies but also bolstered their self-esteem and confidence. They returned home with a renewed spirit, having made real connections with their peers and the world around them.
This adventure camp was more than just a break from the digital world; it was a transformative experience that left a lasting impact on all who participated.
