Sowing Knowledge: A Day at Kapil Agro Farm
On 10th January 2025, students from Grades 9 to 11 of Cambridge visited Kapil Agro Farm in Moinabad to explore modern agricultural practices and sustainable farming techniques. The students learned about vertical farming, high-density crops, and the use of drone technology in agriculture.
They were introduced to vermicompost, an organic fertilizer made by earthworms, and Jeevamrutham, a traditional biofertilizer that enriches soil with beneficial bacteria. The visit also included observing high-density plantations of guava and mango, with practical demonstrations of pheromone traps for pest control.
In the vegetable fields, students gained insights into intercropping, sticky traps, trap crops, and both organic and inorganic farming methods. They also observed the cultivation of crops such as groundnuts, marigolds, ladyfingers, tomatoes and brinjals.
The visit concluded with a lunch prepared using fresh vegetables grown on the farm. Overall, the trip was an enriching experience that highlighted innovative farming methods and the importance of sustainable agricultural practices.
