In a remarkable addition to the Hyderabad Public School Begumpet’s centenary celebrations, the Eagle Youth Parliament took centre stage on the 25th and 26th of December 2023. This dynamic event witnessed the active participation of 77 students from grades 8-11, including enthusiastic representatives from The Hyderabad Public School Ramanthapur.

The Eagle Youth Parliament served as a platform to engage and empower the next generation, with a specific focus on fostering civic participation, political awareness, and honing leadership skills among young minds. Guided by the overarching goal of nurturing responsible and informed citizens, the youth parliament aimed to instil a sense of responsibility and understanding of the democratic process.

The carefully curated agendas for the sessions were both topical and relevant, reflecting the current socio-political landscape of India. The first agenda revolved around a thorough discussion on the Role of Women in Electoral Participation, with a special emphasis on the recently proposed Women Reservation Bill 2023. This allowed the participants to delve into the intricacies of gender dynamics within the political sphere and its potential impact on Indian polity.

The second agenda tackled the complex issue of the Uniform Civil Code and the challenges surrounding its implementation at the national level. This subject prompted insightful debates on the varied perspectives and the intricacies involved in the pursuit of a uniform legal framework for all citizens.

Throughout the two-day event, young participants, representing different political parties, engaged in passionate debates, proposed legislation, and discussed matters of national importance. The immersive experience aimed to simulate the legislative process, providing these future leaders with a first-hand understanding of the complexities involved in policy making, negotiation, and public speaking.
