A Fascinating Encounter with History: Mr. Pradeep Chakravarthy’s Visit

Most of us often dismiss history as boring, but a recent author visit to our school has transformed our perception of this intriguing subject. Mr. Pradeep Chakravarthy, the author of “A History of South India for Children,” captivated us with his engaging session.
Mr. Chakravarthy began by questioning us about the definition of history, encouraging us to become more inquisitive whenever we encounter artifacts or historical objects. He shared photographs of his ancestral home, which has been inhabited by six generations of his family. His passion for history was ignited when he discovered a book written by one of his ancestors, filled with mathematical formulas. This discovery fueled his curiosity about antiquities and artifacts.
During his talk, Mr. Chakravarthy explained how our ancestors possessed extensive knowledge about metals, and how they mixed different metals to create pots and vessels of various shapes and sizes. His book delves into the lives of kings, queens, and their dynasties, as well as the habits and lifestyles of common people.
The session was incredibly interesting and was attended by our history teachers and around 300 students. Mr. Pradeep Chakravarthy concluded by urging us to always question the history of objects we come across in local museums.
Mr. Chakravarthy’s visit was a remarkable experience that left us all with a newfound appreciation for history. We now understand that history is not just about dates and events, but about the fascinating stories and innovations of our ancestors.
