Earth Day 2025

Earth Day Celebrations – April 22, 2025

The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, marked Earth Day on April 22, 2025, with a series of engaging activities designed to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable living among students.

The day began with the online launch of the #Decarbonize South Asia Pacific Program. Under the guidance of Senior School Coordinator Dr. Preet Kaur and Geography Teacher Ms. Soma Dutta Kumar, eight students from Grades 8 to 10 actively participated in this global initiative, emphasizing the school’s commitment to climate action.

A vibrant chalk art activity followed, coordinated by Ms. Ekta Raj, where students expressed powerful environmental messages through creative illustrations. Later, a spirited mass gathering took place in the dining hall before brunch. Students held up placards and played music centered on sustainability, amplifying the day’s message.

A key highlight was a compelling one-minute ‘nukkad natak’ by students of Grades 9 and 10, dramatizing the urgent need to protect the environment. This was complemented by a heartfelt talk by Maryam Abbas of Class 9, who spoke on the importance of environmental responsibility. Sharanya (Class 10) and Shahruda (Grade 9) then led a collective pledge, reinforcing the resolve to safeguard our planet.

Adding youthful energy to the event, students from Class 6 presented catchy slogans addressing critical issues like climate change, deforestation, and the effects of human activity on nature.

As part of the school’s ongoing green practices, students continued collecting banana peels for composting—a simple yet impactful way to support soil health and reduce waste.

The celebration concluded with a unified pledge by all attendees to protect and cherish the Earth. The event was a meaningful reminder of the role each individual plays in fostering a healthier, more sustainable world.
