Celebrating Culture, Creativity, and Confidence:
Bastille day & Bagless Day at Our School

On Monday, 14th July 2025, the school campus buzzed with vibrant energy as students of Grades 6 to 12 participated in a unique confluence of culture and creativity. The morning began with a French-themed Assembly, followed by a lively and enriching Bagless Day—an event designed for Grades 6 to 8 to offer engaging, hands-on learning experiences beyond textbooks.

Bastille day: A Cultural Matinée

The special assembly was a delightful immersion into French language and culture on the occasion of Bastille Day. Students confidently presented French quotes, news bulletins, and some special programs, offering both the original French and English translations. Highlights included:

A French Song by Grade 7: A melodious choral performance by Grade 7 students that brought the beauty of the French language to life with “Francophonie”

A Role Play by Grade 8: A creative and humorous skit capturing everyday French conversations, expressions, and etiquette on getting to know a French city “Marseille”

A Quiz Show by Grade 9: An interactive quiz by Grade 9 students dressed in characters that tested both participants and audience on French comics and films

“Dernière Danse” by Anya & Adwait: A soulful performance of the popular French song that received thunderous applause for its emotion and pronunciation.

The assembly underscored the importance of language learning, and appreciation for diverse cultures.

Bagless Day: Learning with Heart and Hands

In keeping with the spirit of experiential education, students put away their schoolbags for the day and immersed themselves in a wide range of thoughtfully curated activities. Each grade followed a structured schedule combining creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

Spell Bee & JAM

Grades 6 and 7 showcased their vocabulary prowess in the Spell Bee, while Grade 8 took part in JAM (Just A Minute), where spontaneity and articulation were on full display.

Language and Math Games

Students enjoyed language-based games in Grade 6 and math-based activities in Grades 7 and 8—designed to make foundational skills fun and interactive.

School Cinema

Thought-provoking films were screened, followed by class discussions and reflective workbook activities, encouraging media literacy and empathy.

Art Competitions

The classrooms turned into a creative haven, with students across grades interpreting imaginative themes such as:

  • My Dream Garden (Grade 6)
  • Transport in the Future (Grade 7)
  • Nature vs Machine (Grade 8)

Talent Hunt

The highlight of the day was the Talent Hunt during the 9th and 10th periods at the mini amphitheatre. Students performed music, dance, mime, stand-up, and more, cheered on by their peers and judged by Ms. Armin Panjwani and Mr. Michael Ballem. The event showcased the incredible talent and confidence of our students.

The day ended with a soulful rendition of the national anthem on the violin by a student of Grade 7 and the students going back home with hearts full of contentment and minds filled with joyful memories that will last a long time.
