Professional Retreat – 2022

Teaching is a calling, a vocation that requires constant renewal of mind, heart, and spirit. Teachers are drawn to education by an ethic of service and a mission to make a difference in the world. Maintaining the passion to teach and lead wholeheartedly takes skill, inner strength, and spirit. Now more than ever, it takes courage to teach in these challenging times.
A three-day professional retreat with the theme – ‘Atmadeepo Bhavah’ – ‘Be Your Own Light’ was organized for the teachers of the Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, from June 8, 2022, to June 10, 2022. It helped teachers to introspect and focus on specific goals and objectives such as planning, skill acquisition, or team building which would boost student/teacher performance in the future.
The session started with the Vice Principal, Mrs. Amritha Chandra, extending a warm welcome to the staff and briefing them on the events that took place during the summer break. The Principal, Dr. Madhav Deo Saraswat, expressed great confidence in the caliber of the teachers and advised them to work on their grey areas and take pride in their strengths. This was followed by power point presentations of the result analysis of the past five years by the various section coordinators and head of the departments.
The following day there was an elaborate session on POCSO by Addl S P, Mr. Ashok & Ms. Mamata from Bharosa Women & Child Safety Wing. They enlightened the teachers about how they could educate/protect the children from perpetrators both inside and outside school. This was followed by teachers speaking passionately and poignantly about their challenges, plans and commitments for the future. Addressing the staff, the principal urged them to accept the challenges of the present times and plan for the future. He asked all departments to work hand in hand and in accordance with the NEP to bring out the best in the students.
The concluding day saw all departments having a meeting to chalk out a way forward. The teachers enthusiastically geared up to start the new academic year after two long COVID – 19 years of online teaching.
