A Humanitarian Gesture – A Visit to Orphanage by Class 8

This academic year, the school undertook a noble initiative to spread joy, love, and happiness through an annual fundraising Food Carnival. On the 4th of February 2023, Class 8 students and teachers jointly hosted a charitable and entertaining food carnival at Yoga Lawns, The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, to raise funds for a good cause.

In a humanitarian effort to help the underprivileged, the Class 8 students gathered on a Saturday to plan a food fair, thereby exhibiting their kindness and empathy towards the needy and oppressed.

The school shortlisted a few orphanages as beneficiaries to receive the proceeds of the food festival. On the 6th of March 2023, fifteen Class 8 students, accompanied by their teachers, visited three locations and spent a productive day with the inmates. The program recipients included patients at the Eraragadda mental hospital, destitute and abandoned children from the THARA orphanage, and differently-abled children from the Shankar Foundation.

The Class 8 students were captivated by the vocational and technical skills displayed by the differently-abled children. During the interactive session, Father José Mathews, the founder of the THARA foundation, provided the students with an insight into the daily schedule and activities of the beneficiaries. As a gesture of love and kindness, the students contributed groceries, commodities, and food items to the inmates. This was highly appreciated by the inmates.

The eighth-grade students who participated in this benevolent initiative considered the experience highly rewarding as it enabled them to cultivate empathy and gratitude for life’s abundance. The principal of the school, Mr. Madhav Deo Saraswat, applauded the students’ philanthropic efforts and emphasized the importance of caring and sharing to create a fairer society. The students gained valuable insight into the importance of giving, as giving is more blessed than receiving, and it brings us greater happiness.

A heartfelt appreciation goes out to Neeta Ma’am and Ravi Sir, the middle school coordinators, for their outstanding commitment to this noble initiative.
