Investiture Ceremony – 2023
The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, celebrated its centenary year by hosting an extraordinary Investiture Ceremony on the verdant campus. The ceremony, held in the regally decorated Hall, was a significant event not only for the school but also for the city.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC, The Chief of Air Staff, who was accompanied by his esteemed wife, Mrs. Neeta Chaudhari, President AFWWA, as the Special Guest. Additionally, the event was graced by Lord Karan Bilimoria of Chelsea CBE DLFCA FRSA, who was the Guest of Honour.
The ceremony commenced with an impressive parade led by The Nishan Toli, bearing the School Flag and the flags of the four color houses—Nagarjuna, Nalanda, Taxila, and Vijayanagar. Following closely were the N.C.C. Cadets from the three wings of the armed forces—the Army (boys and girls), the Navy, and the Air Force. As the School Brass Band played the School song, the Chief Guest, Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari, unfurled the School Flag.
Lieutenant Lav Ravi served as the Parade Commander, leading the immaculate parade.
Ms. Anuhya Perwala, Head Girl Designate, expressed her excitement at being part of the school’s rich legacy. In her address, she encouraged her fellow students to pursue their dreams while cherishing the memories they create during their time at the school. Quoting Billy Joel, she advised her peers to take a pause and appreciate the present, as school life passes swiftly.
Head Boy Designate, Master Amaan Ali Khan, shared his fond memories of his time in the Primary section and how the school’s ethos allowed each student to soar and have the courage to lead, identifying with The Eagle—the school emblem.
Dr. Skand Bali, The Principal, presented the School Annual Report, highlighting the students’ multifarious achievements in academics and co-curricular fields during the year 2023-24.
The Chief Guest, Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari, invested the Prefectorial Board for 2023-24, entrusting them with leadership responsibilities.
The Guest of Honour, Lord Karan Bilimoria, launched the exclusive and unique Leadership Programme named LEADER, open to students from grades 1 to 12. The programme stands for Learn, Excel, Act, Discover, Empower, and Reflect, aiming to inspire and shape future leaders.
Lord Karan Bilimoria reminisced about his own time at the school and how the campus brought back happy memories. He acknowledged the school’s legacy of producing outstanding leaders and reminded the students of their potential to be “Best for the World.” He urged them to embrace unity and trust while keeping the school’s eagle soaring.
In his address, Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari congratulated the newly invested young leaders and humorously compared himself to the “Prefect of the IAF,” drawing a parallel to the eagles worn by the prefects. He emphasized the importance of adaptability in the rapidly changing world and encouraged the students to step out of their comfort zones. He inspired the young eaglets to join the IAF and “touch the sky with Glory,” quoting lines from Rudyard Kipling’s poem ‘If.’
The ceremony concluded with jubilation as the students formed a corridor to cheer on the Chief Guest and other dignitaries who graced the event.
The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, remains a torchbearer in transformation and continues to nurture future leaders who will make a positive impact on society.
