Math & English Fest

An event titled ‘Learn-o-Carnival’ was organized by the teachers of Pre Primary on the 11th of February 2020. It was set up with care and looked colourful and exciting. The purpose of conducting this event was to further develop knowledge and understanding of various concepts in Math and English.
A variety of activities from Math and English, both, for PP1 and PP2 were vibrantly assembled in the corridors. Math concepts like counting, place value, addition, subtraction, missing numbers, and so on were arranged in a manner that gave the children a hands-on learning experience. To help improve spelling and phonic sounds, activities were designed to enable children uncover words and letters. The bulletin boards were decorated extravagantly with different shapes and rhymes that the young students were familiar with.
The main attraction of the event were the stories that were meticulously planned and put together on the lush green lawns of Pre-Primary. The children were surprised and thrilled to see some of their favourite stories come alive and also to be part of these stories. Children were seen playing the characters of the ‘hare’ and the ‘tortoise’ from the story ‘The Hare and the Tortoise’ using hand puppets. They were also given a chance to play the caterpillar from the story ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ where all students were given paper butterflies as they emerged from a ‘’cocoon’’ that was made from craft material. A realistic looking house made of candies and chocolates with a witch (played by one of the support staff), that made the children both nervous and excited, was the story of ‘Hansel and Gretel’. After listening to the story every child was given a chocolate bar. ‘Jack and the beanstalk’, ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and ‘The Ugly Duckling’ were other stories that were marvelously displayed. Children form PP1 were given bookmarks and story books to take home and the children of PP2 were given a booklet of Puzzles.
The event was also open to the students of Primary who were eager to listen to the stories and to see activities that were displayed.
It was a memorable day packed with learning while also having fun!
