A Journey to the Heart of Farming: Field Trip to the Farmers’ Theme Park

On the 9th of January, the students of class 9(ICSE) embarked on an enriching one-day field trip to One Day Kisan – A Farmers’ Theme Park at Bhuvanagiri.. This immersive experience was designed to connect students with the roots of agriculture and traditional knowledge, blending fun with education. It offered a firsthand look at the tools, techniques, and innovations that form the backbone of farming, both ancient and modern.
The students observed traditional ploughing techniques, gaining a deep appreciation for the physical effort and skill involved in cultivating land. They were also fascinated by a working model of a reservoir, which demonstrated how water is stored and distributed for irrigation, highlighting the importance of water conservation in agriculture.
One of the most captivating experiences was seeing the Persian wheel in action, a timeless irrigation tool that uses the principles of physics to draw water from wells. This tied beautifully with an explanation of Archimedes’ Principle, making scientific concepts come alive in an engaging and practical way.
The excitement continued with a tractor ride through the lush green fields, giving students a glimpse into the role of modern agricultural machinery in farming. They also explored vegetable patches and grain fields understanding their growth cycles, fostering a deeper respect for the hard work of farmers.
From shaping clay in a pottery session to climbing a farmer’s watchtower for a panoramic view of the fields, every activity offered valuable insights into the world of farming. The thrill of operating a hand water pump, experiencing earthworms in a vermiculture lesson, and comparing traditional hand grinding to the modern milling process added further depth to their understanding.
This field trip was not just a break from classroom routines but a bridge to a richer understanding of agriculture, sustainability, and rural innovation. The students returned with new knowledge, cherished memories, and a profound appreciation for the dedication of farmers -the true backbone of our nation.
