AFS India Principals’ Meet

HPS, Begumpet hosted a day long AFS India Principals’ meet for member schools on 14 September, 2019. AFS Intercultural Programs India is a voluntary, non-profit, inclusive educational community of global citizens: students, families and volunteers determined to build bridges between cultures.

The school welcomed the august gathering with the lighting of the lamp symbolising truth, knowledge, and understanding. The school choir sang the school song mellifluously. V Trishati, a student of class 7D performed a traditional invocatory piece, Brahmanjali, to roll out the red carpet. The august gathering was then given an account of the glorious history of the school through sand art. The presentation was enhanced by the use of music and various lighting techniques under the table and it followed a script narrating how this acorn became an oak since its inception in 1925.

44 schools and 48 principals and directors from across the country participated in the meet. The meet simulated discussions to advance three impact goals of AFS- developing global citizens, globalising schools and institutions and expanding access to intercultural education. The AFS, India presented the participants with mementos with which the meet was brought to a closure.

“HPS has always been a forerunner in the field of education. This year we took the opportunity of hosting the AFS Principals’ Meet. AFS endeavours to bring about education through intercultural exchange. There are students who can afford these programs and there are many who cannot. So, as a responsible school, looking into the future, HPS is extremely happy hosting such events and taking the lead,” said the host Principal, Dr. Skand Bali

On the eve of the meet, the heads of the participating institutions were cordially invited to a sumptuous dinner at the HPS House.
