HPS @101 Empowers its Champions – Mini Prize Distribution 2024
Mini Prize distribution – report
The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet celebrated the achievements of our athletes at a ceremony titled ‘Empowering Champions’. This event was organized at our own Open Air Theatre (OAT) on Saturday, 2 nd November, 2024. Students from the four houses across the board who excelled at athletics, shooting and swimming received medals and certificates from the chief guest.
The chief guest for the event was the budding badminton champion Ms. Rashmitha Donepudi. She gave away the medals and certificates, and interacted with the athletes and motivated them to dream big. She addressed the gathering with calmness and maturity that belied her tender age of 22 years. Her accomplishments include a Gold in the Yonex Sunrise Bangladesh Junior International Series 2022. She also has to her credit silver medals at Kotak India Junior International Series 2023 and Khelo India University Games 2023. Ms. Rashmita addressed the gathering with calmness and maturity that belied her tender age of 22 years. This carefully handpicked chief guest for the event was indeed an inspiration for many of our young eagles.
The year long series of Inter house sporting events culminated by honouring and recognising our
champions.
Idhant Sai Juluri of class 7 won gold in the 200 meters race as well a gold in the long jump event, while Tanvi Karakala bagged two golds on the track, winning first place in both the 400 metres event as well as the 4 x 100m relay. Mubeen Maniar and Sreshta Reddy, both of class 9 stood out in the intermediates category. While Mubeen snared 3 golds in the 400 metres run, relay and long lump, Sreshta dominated the throws, winning golds in both the discus and shot put events. Lipika Pallem and Namitha Reddy- both of class 10, headlined for the senior girls. While Namitha won gold in the 400 and 800 metre runs, Lipika won the 200 metre event to add to her long jump triumph. The Vijayanagar House Captain, Rakshan Reddy Ramavaram stood head and shoulders, over the rest of the field (both literally and metaphorically) , in the seniors category. He added to the two golds he was expected to win in his signature events- the discus throw and shot put, by contributing to team golds in the 4 x 100 and 4X 400m relays. The list is endless….that is what HPS does…creates champions and empowers them to dominate the world outside.
Three round square medals were also presented at the annual event. Aakarshana Sathish of class 8 was awarded the King Constantine medal for 2022 for Leadership, Aryaman Aisola for Environmentalism and Sree Budda of class 12 for Service.
The event was punctuated by a Kathak performance, by Anagha Shastri of class 11 and a Bharatanatyam performance by Laasya Rana of class 9.
The comperes Mr. Varun Adithya of the P.Ed dept and a class 11 student Adithya were an outright hit with the audience. The comperes added a refreshing change to the traditional Prize distribution ceremony and were showered with praises for their exceptional performance.
At this historic milestone of HPS turning 101, we can proudly boast of having the first woman Director of the P. Ed dept in the history of HPS, Begumpet Ms G Kalpana (Physical Education Director). She very gracefully delivered the vote of thanks and the annual event concluded with the national anthem.
