Professional Development Workshops

On April 13, 2024, our faculty participated in three enriching professional development workshops aimed at enhancing their teaching practices to better serve the diverse needs of our students.
The first session, titled “Exploring Adolescent Learning Needs and 21st-Century Pedagogical Practices,” was led by esteemed resource persons, Dr. Neeta Bisht and Ms. Charlotte Raj. Delving deep into understanding the unique challenges and opportunities presented by adolescence, the discussion highlighted the evolving learning needs of our students. Attendees engaged in identifying crucial competencies for thriving in the 21st century and explored adaptable pedagogical approaches to meet these needs. A highlight of the session was an engaging activity where teachers collaborated to share department-wise strategies for transforming learning material from short-term to long-term memory, providing practical techniques to enhance retention and comprehension.
Simultaneously, another workshop focused on “Special Needs of Children, Learning Gap Issues, and Needs of Students on Scholarships,” facilitated by Shraveni Vijaya, a Special Educator for Middle School. This interactive session addressed various disabilities and classroom management strategies, along with exploring learning gap issues and strategies for better accommodation. Discussions also extended to understanding and supporting students on scholarships, emphasizing the importance of teacher support in addressing their challenges effectively.
The third workshop, held in the Shaheen block was attended by teachers from classes 3, 4, and 5. It began with an in-depth presentation providing an overview of disabilities, focusing on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), and children with academic gaps. Led by experts in the field, the presentation delved into the indicators of ASD, SLD, and academic gaps, equipping teachers with the knowledge necessary to identify and support students with these challenges. Moreover, emphasis was placed on effective classroom management techniques tailored to accommodate the diverse needs of CwSN and scholarship recipients.
The highly interactive session allowed teachers to actively engage with the material and share their experiences and insights. Through collaborative discussions and practical exercises, educators gained valuable insights into effective strategies for supporting all students’ academic and socio-emotional development. These workshops reflect our commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive.
