Sports is an integral part of the Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet curriculum calendar .Sports day is culmination of year long sporting activities teaching fair play, right attitude ,goal setting ,preparation, perseverance and endurance.

The Chief Guest for the day was Dr.Adnan Altaf Altirnos ,Turkish Consul General in Hyderabad .The function was graced by Mr Shyam Mohan,President HPS Society, Mr Gusti J Noria, Vice Chairman- Board of Governors, Mr Faiz Khan, Secretary & Treasurer HPS Society and other dignitaries from BOG and HPS Society.

This year saw a change in the face of the Sports Day with a scintillating performance by equestrian boys after the opening March Past .The show started with Prem Madhav Bali astride ‘Winning Rays’ waving the school flag followed by various manners of a horses walking like gait, cantering, galloping and Bar Jumping . The Horses enthralled the audience with their precision of timing. The budding sports stars (finalist) participated in their respective races with full verve and vigor.

Competitors from the 4 Houses clashed in 21 disciplines and 52 individual athletic events in various divisions. The matches are played on a league cum knock out basis and the House which emerges with the highest number of point’s bags the coveted trophy – The Best All Round Trophy on the Annual Sports Day.
The Principal, Dr. Skand Bali, read out an impressive Sports Report and lauded the achievements of the students.

The tiny tots of class I put up a relay race – The Eaglet Poll which was followed by a whacky Bunny Race by the children of class II. Keeping up with the latest events in the city, class III put up a relay race titled The Hyderabad Public School Metro Rail. The students of classes IV and V enthralled the audience with their colourful display of Calisthenics – Vibrant Twirls.

The young achievers were awarded with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals by the chief guest, who highly appreciated each sports star and applauded the visionary element of the school which nurture and develops their potential in the sports field.

The Nalanda House lifted The Best All Round Trophy for the year 2018.
